Production Designer

During my tenure at Apple, I played a pivotal role in the product launches of GarageBand. I built and managed the files at the center of the marketing ecosystem, the foundation for web assets, printed materials, motion graphics, and keynote presentations, keeping the brand’s message consistent across every platform and ready for high-impact launch moments.

One scalable source

The hero device art was built as a single scalable master, sharp enough for a forty-foot keynote screen and clean enough for a web hero, so every team pulled from the same source of truth.

Every key, every state

I built the instrument art with all active and inactive states for every key, so the same asset could drive both large-format print and motion: a static comp one day, an animated sequence the next.

Ready on every device

From iPad to iPhone, the launch set carried the same look across form factors, so the product felt unmistakably GarageBand wherever it showed up.

Impact

Launch-ready

Assets that held up from keynote stage to web to print, with no last-minute redrawing.

All states

A single keyboard asset built with every key state, reusable for static and motion.

One source

Consistent messaging across platforms from one managed set of master files.

Reflection

The lesson that stuck with me here was that the real deliverable wasn’t a single comp, it was a reusable source. Building GarageBand’s launch assets as scalable masters with every state baked in meant a small team could move fast across web, print, motion, and the keynote without the look ever drifting.
